I would want my dentist to foster this relationship by knowing what is important to me and respecting me as a person. And I wouldn’t want to be taken for granted, even years into the relationship.”

“What I want as a dental patient is what I now offer you, because the result of this kind of treatment is my true goal; optimal dental health and appearance. It should look good, feel good, and last a long time. If you want this kind of care, I would be happy to be your dentist.”

Utilizing technology that benefits patient comfort and overall care is a commitment Dr. Atkinson takes seriously. “I have an active interest in constantly upgrading the quality of my practice. The state of the art of dentistry has changed very rapidly and we stay on top of what is very current in technologies that provide patient service and comfort.”

“I am blessed with a tremendous staff and that really is what makes the difference. We all insist on doing things the right things-the right way; that’s very important to me.”

With a special interest in Comprehensive, Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Atkinson’s continuing education is a professional commitment.

Dental Health – Healthy Medical Direction

Dental health affects the entire body. Many serious diseases have been linked to poor dental hygiene. For instance, dental health has been directly linked to certain cases of heart and lung disease. Dental health has also been linked to diabetes and premature birth. These facts can be overwhelming the first time you hear them. Dental health is a serious issue; oral health often represents a person’s overall health. Luckily, there are many simple steps that can be taken to improve dental health.

Basic Methods of Dental Hygiene

The most notorious dental health tool is the toothbrush. It is recommended that you brush twice a day and try to use toothpaste that contains fluoride. You should also floss once a day. This is one step that many people ignore. However, unhealthy gums are almost always the cause of dental health problems. Gingivitis is causes by bacteria that grows in the mouth. Much of this bacteria is removed when brushing, but the real danger zones can only be reached by flossing. Flossing helps to break this bacteria up so that it can be removed entirely. It is best to rinse or use mouthwash directly after you have flossed.

What Happens When You Do Not Practice Good Oral Hygiene

Dental problems range from minor to major. Some of the more common problems include bad breath and dry mouth. When a mouth is not kept clean, bacteria is allowed to build up. This can eventually lead to serious health risks, but it usually starts with some minor effects. This bacteria can emit noxious odors that cause one to have bad breath. Mouths can become dry when there is not enough saliva. Saliva helps to remove bacteria and fungus from the mouth. Saliva also helps during the digestion process, which can have a minor effect on bad breath.

The Seriousness Of Gum Disease

Gum disease, such as gingivitis, is what causes teeth to fall out. If untreated, gum disease can also damage the bones of the jaw. There are negative effects for every stage of gum disease. At some point, the gum disease will be irreversible. When the gum disease becomes too severe, the patient is at risk of a heart attack or stroke. The mouth is not the only part of the body that is affected by dental hygiene. It is not difficult to maintain a certain level of dental health. Visit a dentist at least twice a year to ensure that no dental issues go untreated.

Denton, TX Dentures | Lillian Miller Dental

Whether from disease, malnutrition or genetic disorders, sometimes it is necessary for us to extract all of a patient’s lower or upper teeth. While this can be devastating, dentures can provide a second chance at a beautiful smile.

Having complete dentures help with chewing as well as support one’s facial structure and improve speech. With immediate dentures, you can have a full set of teeth while you are waiting for your gums to heal and your bone to realign after having teeth removed. This can take up to six months, so immediate dentures are a great alternative during that time.

Sometimes, complete dentures are not necessary. Partial dentures can replace a string of missing teeth, and are secured to your remaining teeth with clasps.

No matter which kind of dentures you choose, you can be assured to receive natural-looking dentures that match your facial structure and desired tooth color.

Why We Gain Weight in Summer?

The summer delights and beverages lead to weight gain

The contained calories in every one of the favorite summer delights too often exceeds those that the body usually takes in through the usual dinner or lunch

Many believe that summer is the season during which without any efforts and diets you can reduce your weight. In fact, this is not always the case – sometimes we can even talk about the reverse process and prove that in the hot season actually we put on weight.
The main reason for this lies in the misconceptions about our daily menu. Heat in the summer actually reduces the appetite, but it does not lead to starvation and actually we are replacing the usual lunch or dinner with a ” – small but with lots of calories, warn experts in the field of nutrition.
Most often it comes to eating an ice-cream for lunch or a bag of roasted nuts or a few pancakes coated with plenty of chocolate and flavored with a few pieces of banana. That kind of eating not only that it won’t lead to weight loss, but on the contrary – it will lead to weight gain. The contained calories in every one of this favorite summer delights too often exceeds those that the body usually takes in through the usual dinner or lunch.
In order not to reach this unpleasant moment – to realize that you have gained weight in the summer, it is best to replace the ice cream and chocolate delights with bread, pickled “, milk drinks – they will satiate hunger and will quench thirst.
“, they are the other key, in which is hidden the next major cause of weight gain in the summer.
In the heat we may not eat much, but we drink all sorts of things – juices, sodas and shakes. However, they “bring” to the body a lot of “liquid” calories.
Simultaneously, the sugar in them is easily absorbed by the body, leading to increasing the levels of insulin. When the body “addicts” to these high levels, this leads to increased appetite.
Sometimes, however, the increased dress size during the summer could not be caused by obesity. During the hot months, the body retains more fluid, because increased amounts of beverages can not always be absorbed and disposed froms the body.
